Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicked off this morning, and we finally learned about the new iPhone, the 3G S.

There were plenty of rumors circulating about the new iPhone, and unfortunately the real phone doesn’t live up to the hype. How does it differ from the regular 3G iPhone? It has a 3MP camera (instead of 2MP), auto-focus, tap to focus, video recording, faster performance, voice control, and a compass. Also, the battery is supposed to last longer..

The real news is the new pricing – 8GB iPhone 3G for $99 / 16GB iPhone 3G S for $199 / 32GB iPhone 3G S for $299.

I’m still using my 8GB 2G iPhone (with the $10 cheaper data plan that still includes 200 texts), and I’m not sure if it’s worth it for me to upgrade just yet. The new OS 3.0 will be available as a no-cost upgrade next week, and that’ll get you 90% of the new features.

Should be interesting to see how the public reacts to the news..
