My inbox is out of control.. On average, I get about 500 e-mails a day! Overnight, I got 108 new e-mails.. It’s ridiculous.
So I decided to do something about it. I use Microsoft Outlook, not to be confused with the less powerful Outlook Express. Outlook has a “Rules and Alerts” section under the Tools pulldown which lets you create rules on how you’d like certain e-mails to be handled.
Since Twitter is by far my biggest offender, I created a rule that puts any e-mails with the subject heading “is now following you on Twitter!” into a Twitter folder, which I can review at any time. This way, I still get notifications in my inbox about Direct Messages and such, but I’m not getting bombarded with useless e-mails from Twitter spammers who keep following me (in hopes that I auto-follow back).
I manage over 40 Twitter accounts for our different businesses, so you can only imagine what I have to deal with!

Nice post, Using “Outlook express” one can easily mange his/her emails even if the traffic of mails is about 1000 mails a day…Outlook provides facility to creates rules and alerts for different mails ID’s using which you can easily manage your mail account…
Well, I had to do much more than Rules and Alerts to take care of my email. I had to adopt a complete methodology for handling email
It was utter chaos, and now its total bliss:
