Bad Luck In Baltimore..

Last month, I headed down to the Buy.At offices in Baltimore for the Tax Talk and Crab Feast event put on by Affiliate Summit. I never made it there. A few blocks from their offices, my car broke down. While I was coming down 95, I started having issues with my gearbox, and I couldn’t shift into 2nd gear. Thankfully, the traffic never slowed down that much, and I was able to limp into Baltimore. But when I hit a red light and had to stop, I was done. I couldn’t get back into a low gear, and I had to push the car off the road.

The car was towed to a local Porsche dealership. Final diagnosis – The transmission was toast! Catastrophic failure, at a cost of $6000! (Porsche parts aren’t cheap)

Total nightmare.. Breaking down 120 miles from home is no fun! The car took almost a month to get repaired, but I finally got the call yesterday that she was ready to go. My wife skips out of work early, and we head down to Baltimore to pick up the car. About 5 miles from the shop, this happens:

We get rear-ended at a red light by some chick who wasn’t paying attention. (Texting, on the phone, who knows?) What are the odds? My wife just got the car in October, and now this happens. The pictures don’t really capture the extent of the damage, but the bumper is destroyed! Thankfully, that “appears” to be the extent of the damage. We’ll know better when the body shop takes off the bumper, and sees if anything else got damaged.

What a mess.. 🙁
