I actually launched one of our first blogs on Dreamhost, and continued to host it with them for nearly 3 years! Dreamhost definitely offers an attractive package - Heck, I signed up using the old '777' code, and paid $7.77 for 1-year of hosting (complete with a free domain!). But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Dreamhost is SLOOOOOOOW! Sometimes, it would take upwards of 30 seconds for our blog to show up. Going through the Wordpress dashboard was PAINFUL. So why did I stick with them for so long?

They offered an insane amount of storage and bandwidth for the price. At the time, we were putting out 100MB podcasts on a weekly basis, and DH was the only host that didn't have a problem with this. Any other shared host would have kicked us off in no time flat. (Not to mention, we had an archive over 2+ years of podcasts. What host would let you host that much for $7/mo?)

When we finally gave up the podcasts, we moved that blog over to HostGator, and it was a night and day difference. It was like driving a Hyundai, and then getting the keys to a Porsche 911 Turbo. Seriously!

What about Dreamhost? I used them for a couple of years, and I was pretty happy with them. You just can't beat the bang for the buck!
