Preparing For My Colonoscopy Tomorrow!

About a month ago, I posted about how I had been dealing with some mysterious stomach bug. The issues got worse and worse, and my GI doctor ordered a batch of tests (which all came back clean), and then decided to schedule me for a Colonoscopy.

Just the word made me cringe – I’ve heard horror stories about how bad the prep is, and I wasn’t looking forward to it. But I didn’t want to die either, so I sucked it up and decided to do it.

My procedure is scheduled for tomorrow morning. So the instructions had me take some Magnesium Citrate last night at 8pm, and that will be followed up with a bottle of Miralax this afternoon at 4pm. I made the mistake of Googling Magnesium Citrate, and came across this hysterical story on

So, were the Poop Report guys full of it? Honestly, it wasn’t AS BAD as I had expected. I woke up around 1am with some cramping, but the real fireworks didn’t begin until 3:30am. Another round at 6am, and then another at 8am. After that, I was pretty much done. Wow, that was easy! I wonder what I still need the Miralax for?

Around 5pm (an hour after I took the Miralax), my world got turned upside down. THIS was the horror that I had heard about. 6+ hours of uncontrollable squirts, so violent my stomach hurt from clenching. This may have been the most painful thing I ever experienced!

Here’s hoping the worst is behind me, and the actual procedure is successful. Fingers crossed!
