Attention CMOs: Are You Ready For The Next Watershed Event In Digital Marketing?

In 2013, a major paradigm shift will occur in cyberspace: the internet will cease to be overwhelmingly dominated by .com TLDs and instead will decentralize into thousands of gTLDs (or “generic top-level domains”). How companies react to this drastic turn of events will have a substantial impact on their long-term survivability.

Just as before, companies will scramble for desirable positions in the new, gTLD dominated digital arena; those who fail to make a proper analysis and determine how their company should adjust will almost certainly suffer as a result. Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) need to take a variety of factors into consideration, such as: what is our competition expected to do? How do we accurately classify our services?
