Loving The New Media Uploader In WordPress 3.5

WordPress 3.5 was released a little over a month ago (and some bug fixes were addressed in the recently released WordPress 3.5.1), but due to a compatibility issue with a plugin I actively use, I wasn’t able to upgrade some of my sites until now.

The WP team completely overhauled the Media Uploader, and it’s awesome! I work with a lot of graphics-heavy sites, where a single post might contain 15-20 images. In the old WordPress, you would have to insert each picture into the post one by one, which was a huge PITA. Most of the time, I’d create a gallery to save time, but that wasn’t always a viable option.

With the new media uploader, you simply checkmark which images you want to insert into a post, and then click the “Insert Post” button. Instantly, all of the photos checked are inserted into the editor. I’ve been wanting a feature like this for YEARS, so I’m thrilled that WP finally addressed this shortcoming.

If you were like me and holding off on upgrading because of some issues with Sharebar, rest assured that the latest version works with WP 3.5+, so you’ve not no excuse not to upgrade.
