Google To Shutdown Google Affiliate Network

R.I.P. Google Affiliate Network

The Google Affiliate Network (GAN) has always been somewhat of a redheaded stepchild in the affiliate marketing world, so it didn’t come as any big surprise when Google announced that they were retiring their affiliate network, “to focus on other products that are driving great results for clients.”

The official shutdown date is July 31st 2013, and certain functionality (retrieving reports, reconciling orders, and processing payments) will be available through October 31st 2013.

More than likely, publishers and advertisers alike will move their business to other affiliate networks like Linkshare, Commission Junction, ShareASale, and Affiliate Window. I personally didn’t do much business with GAN, as I couldn’t stand their interface!

It should be interesting to see how the next few months play out..
